Star Trek Discovery’s Production finally concluded its own Search for Spock, casting up-and-coming actor Ethan Peck as the legendary half Vulcan, half human dude with a powerful grip.
Peck is the grandson of the also legendary Gregory Peck(The Omen and a lot of other amazing films) and follows in the boldly steps of Leonard Nimoy, the absolute best at portraying and creating the mannerisms of the brilliant character, and Zachary Quinto, who played the Science Officer in the JJ Abrams’ Trek Film Trilogy.
“We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role,” executive producer Alex Kurtman said in a statement. “An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning. Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy.”
I think he looks both like the OG Spock, Leonard Nimoy, and also a little bit like James Frain, who plays his father Sarek. So, great casting…?
Ethan Peck will join stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif and Anthony Rapp in the Second Season of Star Trek: Discovery, on which, according to the trailer, Spock shall play a pivotal role.
